Styling

Sarah Starkey

Stylist Sarah Starkey’s profound understanding of the power and codes of fashion gives her a singular agility in answering any brief with precision and nuance. Spanning editorial, commercial, music and runway, her work is layered, considered and distinctive - reflecting her broad experience, an international sensibility and a diverse lexicon of inspiration. An early pull towards emo culture was where Sarah first encountered how music, clothing, hair and attitude could converge as a force for self-expression and identity. Her journey led her to the evolving electro and indie scene, where brands such as Ksubi created their own universes of rebellious cool, and magazines such as Oyster - where she later worked - inspired her through their intersection of fashion, music, nightlife, subculture and other art forms. Total immersion, intuition and pragmatism define her approach. Formal training in fashion design underpins Sarah’s understanding of shape, construction, proportion, fabrication and how garments work on the body. In an industry that demands resourcefulness, Sarah will often create pieces she can’t source. Naturally drawn to both the beautiful and the unexpected, her creative vision is underscored by hard work, dedication and a genuine passion for her craft.
