Seung Rok Baek
As a shy child growing up in Seoul, Seung-Rok Baek discovered his calling when asked to photograph an acquaintance's wedding on a small point-and-shoot. Photography became a new language, a bold way of conversing and self-expression. His eye naturally seeks the quiet and the exquisite. Moving to Sydney to study graphic design sharpened his sense of angle and composition, a precise counterpoint to his more fluid capturing of simple, everyday moments. Within the fashion genre, Seung's work is the antithesis of the fleeting and flashy; instead it captivates by weaving a narrative that feels whispered. His dual cultural foundation informs this: Seoul's hectic pursuit of technical perfection, tempered by the breadth and ease Australia gave his lens. In both still life and fashion, he captures precise detail within a larger evocative feeling, inviting us to lean in closer. His clients include Lee Matthews, Dinosaur Designs, Calvin Klein, RM Williams, David Jones, Marle, Arts Matter, Saint Valentine, and Kathmandu.
